Reducing packaging waste has never been more important – that’s why Lenor is working towards circular and intelligent packaging to reduce single-use plastics.<br><br>

Lenor’s packaging is essential in preventing the product from being spoiled or wasted. We are committed to finding more sustainable types of packaging and reducing our ‘plastic footprint’ through the following ways:<br><br>

- __Renew__: Minimize the use of virgin plastic by increasing recycled content
- __Recycle__: Promoting recyclability of our packaging
- __Reduce__: Finding alternative materials to go from less to zero plastic solutions

Lenor is partnering with paper bottle company Paboco and some of the world’s leading brands to identify packaging solutions to reduce and replace plastic packaging even for liquids. Our first step towards bio-based packaging is a prototype of a paper bottle made from sustainably sourced FSC-certified paper and a thin plastic barrier made from post-consumer recycled PET. In 2022, this first-of-a-kind paper bottle will be trialled in Western Europe to understand performance and consumer feedback.<br>
Building on learnings from this milestone, future versions of the bottle will integrate the lining into the paper bottle, to create a seamless, 100% fiber-based bottle recyclable in any paper waste stream. This first pilot will form the basis of a test and learn strategy to scale up paper packaging and incorporate it more widely across P&G’s portfolio. You can find more info here:

Digital Watermarks are tiny imperceptible codes that are embedded onto our packaging and inform automatic sorting equipment how it should be sorted and recycled. This could enable better sorting and higher-quality recycling rates, driving a truly circular economy.<br><br></td>

In October 2020, Lenor was the first P&G brand to commercialize Digital Watermarks on some of its packaging. Today, the technology is embedded on all the sleeved Liquid Fabric Softeners, Scent Boosters and Laundry Detergent Liquitabs bags sold in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
